This encaustic is one of my imaginary images of earth from space -- a land, but not any actual one on Earth, thus the title. The top of this painting begins in deep blue and runs down to a silvery-pink ocean. The overall impression is topographical and there's tremendous detail as frozen and melted rivers appear to cross over a terrain of valleys and hills. Personally, I find this to be an interesting painting because it is both visually varied and unusual, and at the same time a possible "land". Suitable for a living room or at the end of a hallway, this painting will "work" both viewed from a distance as well as up close. It is painted on a 2-inch deep cradled hardwood panel, the sides of which are painted a harmonious medium blue. It does not require framing, does in fact, look best unframed. It is signed, dated, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
