52 / 166 Works

This painting is dominated by a red patch surrounded by pastel, muted tones. As in Wassily Kandinsky's 'Red Spot II', the red patch stands for the autonomy of forms and colours. In other words: the other forms and colours respect the spot. But in this case it's more about what the artist associates with the pandemic. It's about people's isolation, the loss of interpersonal relationships and a shattered world. And finally, it's about respect, which would make our lives altogether more bearable.
It is thinly painted in oil, which gives the work a special authenticity. It's a one-off piece of art.
